 Inertia is a properties of any objects that wants to remain its own existing states. Object should be in two states. Static and dynamic. Static is having no motion. Dynamic is with motion. According to Newtons second law of motion, staic object will be static and dynamic object will be dynamic if any external force is excerted on it. This property of object is innertia.
